Málaga is well connected by air, rail, and road, making it a convenient destination for national and international participants. The following section provides practical advice on how to reach the city and navigate local transport to the conference venue.

Arriving by Air

Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport is the main point of entry for international travellers. Located approximately 10 km from the city centre, it offers various options for onward transport:

 

By Taxi

  • Approximate travel time to the city centre: 20 minutes

  • Cost: €20–30 (depending on time of day and traffic)

  • Official services:

  • Ridesharing apps like Uber, Cabify, and Bolt are also available

 

By Train (Cercanías C1/C2)

  • The Cercanías Line C1 connects the airport to the city

  • Trains run every 20 minutes between 6:00 and 24:00

  • Travel time: Approx. 30 minutes

  • Stations:

    • Málaga-María Zambrano (central station, metro and bus connections)

    • Málaga-Centro Alameda (closer to the historic city centre)

By Airport Bus (Line A Express)

  • Departs every 30 minutes until midnight

  • Travel time: Approx. 20–25 minutes

  • Final stop: Paseo de los Tilos, next to the María Zambrano train station

  • Ticket: €4 (payable by cash or card)

  • Timetable: EMT Málaga – Line A

Arriving by Train

The main station is María Zambrano, located in the city centre and connected to the metro and local buses.

  • High-speed AVE trains link Málaga to major cities such as Madrid, Córdoba, and Seville

  • Local and regional trains connect the city to other Andalusian destinations

  • The station is co-located with the central bus terminal

From María Zambrano, participants can reach the conference venue via Metro Line 1 (stop: Universidad).

Arriving by Bus

The Málaga Central Bus Station is located next to the María Zambrano train station. It offers routes to all major Spanish cities and several international destinations.

Arriving by Car

Travelling by car is generally convenient, although traffic can be dense during rush hours (7:00–10:00 and 20:00 onward).

Parking: It is advisable to use supervised car parks, particularly if staying in the city centre.

Getting to the Conference Venue

From the city centre, the most reliable options are:

  • Bus Line 11 or Line 8 to “Facultad de Filosofía y Letras”

  • Metro Line 1 from María Zambrano to Universidad
